The former health secretary is set to enter the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp tomorrow (9th November) after spending a period of time in isolation, according to The Sun.
His entrance will be teased by show hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly during tonight’s show. It’s reported that Hancock and Seann Walsh will make their way into a separate camp on Wednesday. The news comes after Olivia Attwood’s swift departure due to medical reasons from the show after just 24 hours.
There was a statement shared to Olivia’s Instagram stories which read “To say Olivia is heartbroken would be an understatement, she dreamed of doing I’m a Celeb for years and was absolutely loving every second of the show and throwing herself into jungle life feet first (just as we knew she would).
“However, for reasons beyond her control, her journey has been cut short. Your support and kind words have meant the absolute world to her, now as much as it always has. You will hear the truth from Olivia in due course and she will be back on your screens in the new year.
It concluded: “Ps. Who’s going to roast Matt Hancock now??”
It has been a controversial decision to allow the former health secretary to enter the jungle with a petition of over 42,000 signatures calling for ITV to change its mind on bringing him in.
Hancock defended his decision in The Sun writing: “While there will undoubtedly be those who think I shouldn’t go, I think it’s a great opportunity to talk directly to people who aren’t always interested in politics, even if they care very much about how our country’s run.
“It’s our job as politicians to go to where the people are — not to sit in ivory towers in Westminster.”
His decision to join the show had his Tory whip removed, effective making him an independent and no longer part of the Conservative parliamentary party until reinstated.
