New ‘Harry Potter’ Series Is Looking For Yorkshire Folk For Harry, Ron & Hermione Roles
HBO and Warner Bros are partnering for a faithful Harry Potter TV series, seeking young actors aged 9-11 from the UK and Ireland to portray Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Applicants must submit two videos with non-Potter content and natural accent. Project expected to debut in 2026. Deadline for applications is 31st October.

Are you a Potter nut? Then we’ve got the thing for you. Or, your children… As most Potter fans reading this will now be grown-ups with their own families. A nationwide casting call has been issued across the UK in search for the next Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger.

HBO and Warner Bros are collaborating on a new Harry Potter TV series, which aims to be a more faithful adaptation of the books and is expected to span several years, allowing the actors to age alongside their characters.

While Harry Potter fans have already speculated on who they’d like to see cast in these iconic roles, the official casting process has now begun. The call is open to children from across the UK and Ireland, with the aim of finding the young actors who will portray Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Currently, the casting team is only considering children who reside in the UK or Ireland and who will be aged between nine and eleven by April 2025. Those interested in applying are required to submit two videos. The first video, lasting 30 seconds, should feature the child performing a short piece such as a poem or a brief story of their choice. Importantly, the content must not be related to Harry Potter, and the child should use their natural accent so the casting directors can get a sense of how their prospective Harry, Ron, or Hermione might sound.

The second video can be up to a minute long, in which the child should state where they live, their date of birth, and their height. They will also be given a moment to introduce themselves, and share a little about their family, friends, or pets they feel close to.

Full details can be found on the Cast It website, which is the only platform through which aspiring young wizards can submit their applications. The deadline for applications is 31st October this year.

As this project is expected to run for several years, any child cast in these roles should be prepared for a long-term commitment. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has indicated that the show is anticipated to debut in 2026, according to Variety.
