After last night’s announcement, this exciting new open-air cinema experience has announced its tour of the UK – offering guests the chance to enjoy a magical night of movies from spring and beyond. It’s stopping at some of the UK’s most scenic locations, and Yorkshire has some beautiful spaces where you can go and enjoy this unique experience with the family.
The open-air cinema invites families and friends to get cosy on a blanket with a picnic and enjoy new and classic films under the sun and stars. The experience will be socially-distanced with a whole range of films to enjoy such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show and 80s classics like Dirty Dancing, to family favourites like Grease and The Greatest Showman, and some of the best modern blockbusters.
They have handpicked some of the UK’s most picturesque venues from heritage parks, stunning beauty posts and iconic sporting locations. There are eight locations across Yorkshire, where you will get a chance to enjoy this unique cinematic experience. One of our favourites is the Grade I-listed Allerton Castle – which is a Gothic stately home near Knaresborough. It’s surrounded by the charming Yorkshire countryside, just imagine watching Harry Potter on the medieval grounds.
One of our other favourites was the screening at Sewerby Hall, on the outskirts of Bridlington. It offers great sea views and is a Grade I-listed Georgian country house that boasts acres of parkland and a zoo packed full of some exciting animals
To ensure safety, whilst not hampering the magical experience, Adventure Cinema has chosen spacious locations, and will guide groups to their designated picnic space by stewards who will seat people safely. Other measures include wide aisles to the left, right and centre of the event space, allowing people to safely move around, and regularly cleaned, individual toilet units with hand sanitising stations outside. So whether picnicking with pals or enjoying a big family outing, visitors can rest assured that they’re in a safe space.
Ben Lovell, Co-Director, Adventure Cinema, comments: “We had great fun putting on the UK’s biggest ever drive-in cinema tour last summer, and now we can’t wait to travel all over the country once again, this time with our open-air cinema season. Just like with the drive-in shows, we’ve worked very hard to ensure that these events are safe and lots of fun for all the family. We’ve got some amazing films to show in some truly incredible spaces, and we’re excited to offer guests two things they may have desperately missed in recent months: the cinema and the great outdoors.”
Movies being shown on the tour include:
The Greatest Showman, 1917, Joker, the Harry Potter series, Grease, Dirty Dancing, The Lion King, The Dark Knight, Jurassic Park, The Goonies, Pretty Woman and many more.
