Lewis Capaldi Announced As First Headliner For Leeds’ Roundhay Festival 2026

The 700-acre park, Roundhay, is set for the launch of a massive new festival next year, with iconic Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi announced as headliner.

The spot is no newbie to the festival scene, having seen with the likes of The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna and Michael Jackson gracing Leeds over the decades gone by. Capaldi is the first act named for the new festival that is in collaboration with Leeds City Council, taking place at Roundhay Park on 4th July 2026, BBC reports

We can expect such classic number one hits as Before You Go, Pointless and Wish You The Best from the 28-year-old singer-songwriter who’s had two studio albums reach number one in the UK charts.

The event is being organised by folks behind British Summer Time (BST) Hyde Park, which the Scottish singer is also set to perform at on the 11th July.

Jim King, chief executive of live entertainment company AEG Presents UK and European Festivals, said: “Everyone at AEG is thrilled to announce the launch of the Roundhay Festival in Leeds. This landmark event gives us the opportunity to bring world-class artists and world-leading production to even more fans, while building on the park’s incredible musical legacy.

Roundhay Park already holds an extraordinary place in music history, having hosted concerts from some of the biggest artists of all time and we cannot wait to add to that story.

As with all our events, we are committed to delivering the very best in every aspect, from welcoming some of the greatest artists in the world, to creating an unforgettable fan experience, and upholding industry-leading sustainability standards.

We are determined to bring value to the park, the city, and the wider region. By working closely with local people and businesses, we aim to create a festival that everyone in Leeds can be proud of.”

The capacity for Roundhay Park was increased from 19,000 to 69,999 as plans to make it one of the UK’s biggest outdoor venues were approved for no more than two weekends of events. Councillors voted to allow the capacity increase. Last time such a crowd was seen at the park was for Ed Sheeran back in 2019 when it was temporarily increased to 80,000.
