Free Paddington Bear Statue Trail to Appear Across the UK This Autumn, Including York

If you’re a fan of the bear in the big red hat, then you’ll be excited to hear that a free Paddington Bear statues trail is popping up across the UK including the historic city of York. STUDIOCANAL has partnered with cities across the UK and Ireland to celebrate the release of Paddington in Peru coming to a cinema near you.

That’s right! The marmalade munching bear is coming to Yorkshire – and you get to get a snap with Paddington in York whilst he chills on benches across the city. He’ll be visiting cities the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland in anticipation of the third instalment of all things bear-related.

The statues will include Paddington in his iconic red hat, blue duffle coat, and a marmalade sandwich. And, York is one of 23 locations taking part in Paddington Visits.

Paddington fans can spot the statue from the 8th of October. YorkBID posted: “Hold on to your hats! Paddington has come to York!

“The beloved @paddingtonbear has taken residence on his very own bench in Dean’s Park, with a lovely view of York Minster. We checked, and we can confirm he’s got plenty of emergency marmalade sandwiches to keep him going for a while…

Paddington in Peru, in UK and Ireland cinemas on the 8th of November. This time he’s heading home to visit Aunt Lucy, who is in a home for retired bears. He’s bringing along the Brown family and Mrs Bird in what we are sure to be a roller coaster adventure if previous films are anything to go by.

Hugh Bonneville, the actor who plays Mr Brown in the film, said: “I am thrilled to reveal we are going to be unveiling a number of benches across the UK, all featuring a statue of our beloved bear. Ahead of the new film, fans, families and friends can sit down and have a chat with the marmalade loving bear, so watch this space for more information about Paddington…coming to a bench near you!”

Rachel Bean, Project Manager at York BID said: “We are so excited to bring this incredibly
special bench to York as part of Paddington Visits. Paddington has a place in all our hearts, and
this magical bench will bring a touch of warmth to residents and visitors during the colder winter
months. Thank you to York Minster for giving Paddington the most beautiful home.”
