It’s finally been announced, after fans have waited patiently since the finale the Peaky Blinders movie has been announced by Netflix. Tommy Shelby and the gang are heading to the silver screen for more chaos and carnage.
Cillian Murphy will once again take on the iconic role as Tommy Shelby off the back of his Oscar-winning performance in Oppenheimer. Murphy is also taking on a producer role in the movie version of the British series.
As well as Murphy, Tom Harper will be returning to direct the movie that currently has no name. Cillian Murphy spoke to Deadline today, saying: “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me, It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”
Harper, the director of the first series, said: “When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive,
“Peaky has always been a story about family — and so it’s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix.”
Steven Knight said: “I’m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happen. It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.”
Other characters returning for the Peaky Blinders movie are yet to be named. But, we can’t wait to here more from the iconic BBC drama set in Birmingham.
