We love a farm shop here at The Yorkshireman—a place where you can pick up local Yorkshire goods from folk who truly know their produce. From homemade pastries to charming cafés serving up the tastiest grub, there’s nothing better. And now, Fodder, one of Yorkshire’s best farm shops, has finally reopened after its biggest refurbishment since 2009.
The newly revamped Fodder stocks Yorkshire produce for all over the region – more than ever – and was officially reopened by popular TV presenter Christine Talbot, The Yorkshire Vet’s Peter Wright, Fodder’s General Manager Vanessa Pitt, and the CEO of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, Allister Nixon.

The Great Yorkshire Food Hall will feature permanent tasting tables, allowing visitors to sample offerings from Fodder’s suppliers, as well as a new menu showcasing dishes made with produce from the shop. After closing in January for its extensive refit, the shop and café have undergone a remarkable transformation. Fodder is now officially known as Fodder – Great Yorkshire Food Hall, while the café has been rebranded as The Kitchen.
Fodder also has a fresh new logo, completing a full rebrand for the family of businesses across the showground, including The Great Yorkshire Events Centre, Harrogate Caravan Park, and The Great Yorkshire Show.
Vanessa Pitt, Fodder’s General Manager, said: “We are delighted to welcome our customers back through the doors and look forward to this exciting new chapter for Fodder and our suppliers and producers.”

During the closure, Fodder hosted Fodder Friday’s Breakfast Club with Your Harrogate radio, welcoming 27 producers and suppliers over nine weeks to discuss their businesses and connections to Fodder over the years.
Vanessa added: “We have really close relationships with our suppliers and producers. We work with them on special promotions and pay them fairly and so putting them front and centre of Fodder is really important to us. The refit really allows us to do that, not only with a bigger range, we also have permanent tasting tables for sampling every week which helps spotlight businesses even more.”

Allister Nixon, Chief Executive of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, which owns Fodder, “This is a new era for Fodder to take it into the future with a contemporary feel while retaining its warmth and connection to Yorkshire producers. We pride ourselves on looking after our suppliers while raising money for the farming community as all profits go back to the Yorkshire Agricultural Society to continue its support for the industry.”
