Autumn is upon us once more and we are naming the best pumpkin patches in Yorkshire. Whether you visit Farmer Copley’s in Pontefract, Spilmans in Thirsk, or Horsforth Pick Your Own in Leeds you’re sure to have a fun day out for all the family. So grab the kids, grab the dog, and maybe leave grandma at home as it’s getting a little nippy.
Make sure you take your big coat, too, as you’ll be out in the beautiful fields full of great orange pumpkins, all waiting for you to take them home and carve into whatever your heart desires. Will you go for the classic scary face, or maybe even a cheeky grin? Here’s our guide to the best pumpkin patches in Yorkshire.
1. Spilman Pumpkin Festival 2022

Spilmans is a pretty HUGE and very popular pumpkin patch in North Yorkshire near Thirsk. And this year’s experience is even bigger than ever with more pumpkins than ever before. Their 25-acre pumpkin patch has 125,000 pumpkins waiting to be picked.
The family-run farm makes sure that your day out is as fun as it can be with special photo opportunities dotted all over the farm. This year’s event kicks off in October, especially for you wonderful people to go and collect yours ready to carve for Halloween!
The pumpkins are just the start of the fun at Spilmans Farm this year, with a musical show called The Last Pumpkin taking place, which is a live show taking place every two hours, along with their bale mountain – entry to both of which is included in the ticket price.
Other activities taking place throughout the day include pumpkin carving in the barn, blasting corn from their corn cannon, a pumpkin slingshot(!), tractor rides, fairground rides and more – so much you won’t want to leave!

2. Piglet’s Adventure Farm, York



Found in North Yorkshire, Piglet’s Adventure Farm will be allowing your little ones to pick their own pumpkins all the way up until the end of October. Or, if you’re not too precious about Halloween, you can take advantage from the 24th to the 1st of November, when you’ll be able to go every day.
Their Pumpkin Festival begins on the 8th & 9th of October and takes place every weekend in October and daily from 23rd – 31st. 3. Birchfield Farm, Harrogate



Near Harrogate, Birchfield Farm will run their pumpkin festival all throughout October and is the perfect place to make sure that everyone has fun in a safe environment.

As well as pumpkin picking, they’ll also have a spooky maze, outdoor animals and woodland den making – so make sure the little ones have their wellies with them as it may get a little muddy! For more information visit their website here.

4. Farmer Copleys, Pontefract



Farmer Copleys in Pontefract currently holds the claim to ‘biggest pick your own pumpkin patches in Yorkshire and the UK’ – and with thousands of pumpkins planted for this year, we can kind of see why. They have a huge variety of pumpkins available to choose from – including red, green, white, blue, black, yellow, mixed, warty and, of course, orange. With this many to choose from, we know you won’t leave empty-handed! You can visit every weekend during October.

4. Balloon Tree Farm Shop, Helmsley, York



Balloon Tree Farm Shop’s pumpkins are almost ready to be picked and the team at the farm is already excited for us all to get down and pick our favourite pumpkins to carve this Halloween. 6. Horsforth Pick Your Own, Leeds



Opening especially for PYO pumpkins, Horsforth’s PYO, which began in 1984, has this year planted over 37,000 pumpkins. You’ll be spoilt for choice as well, as they have up to 18 different varieties – from mini munchkins to jumbo-sized and warty, white, striped and, of course, classic orange ones. They re-open on in October, so visit their website here and get your tickets booked.
7. Bert’s Barrows, Leeds



Opening up on the 1st October, Bert’s Barrows is ready for your little ones to come and select their pumpkins for Halloween – so make sure you get down as soon as possible not to miss out on their beautiful pumpkins that are sure to make perfect pumpkin soups, or scary characters to light up on your mantelpiece.
PYO pumpkins will be open from October 1st.
8. Stockeld Park Pick Your Own Pumpkin



Pumpkin carving will be taking place in the marquee with our spooky Stockeld Rangers for an additional charge. Pumpkins can also be purchased on the day for those who donβt qualify for the free pumpkin or wish to buy additional ones.

9. Temple Newsam
During the half term, you can visit Temple Newsam for pumpkin carving fun between 1pm – 3pm on the 27th of October.
Temple Newsam has not announced wether this will return this year or not so keep your eyes peeled.
10. Allerthorpe Lakeland Park



Found in East Yorkshire near Pocklington, Allerthorpe Lakeland Park will have pumpkin and Halloween fun. Posting to Facebook they wrote: “

11. Yorkshire Pumkins, Lodge Farm



The Yorkshire Pumpkin Farm near York is doing a pre-ticketed event, so make sure you get your tickets here. The website reads: “We’re open from 10-4 on 8th & 9th, 15th & 16th October then every day from 20th October until 30th October.”
They have thousands of pumpkins for you to choose from with prices starting at just Β£1 Dates & Times they’re open are 16th & 17th October then every day from 21st – 31st October, 10-4 every day
