Yorkshire-born actor James Norton is set to host Saturday Night Live UK tonight, taking on a very different role from some of his best-known characters, including the chilling Tommy Lee Royce in Happy Valley.
Norton has enjoyed a string of high-profile roles in recent years, including appearances in House of Guinness and the Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon. Now, he’s swapping the screen for the stage as he takes on hosting duties for the iconic comedy show’s British version.
He’ll be joined by musical guest The Streets, promising an energetic episode packed with sketches, comedy and live music.
James Norton stars in new Saturday Night Live UK teaser
A teaser clip was shared earlier this week to build excitement ahead of tonight’s episode. Titled ‘James Norton Has Powerful Eyes’, the clip features Norton performing alongside Annabel Marlow and Freddie Meredith.
The teaser gives viewers a taste of what to expect from the actor as he steps into the world of live sketch comedy, where quick thinking and impeccable timing are essential.
Although Norton is best known for his dramatic performances, hosting Saturday Night Live UK gives him the chance to show a different side of his talents. With the programme’s mix of topical humour, character sketches and live performances, it should be an interesting change of pace for the Yorkshire star.
Norton is in good company in the latest series of Sky and NOW’s Saturday Night Live UK. Last weekend, Danny Dyer took to the stage, delivering an entertaining show that demonstrated the appeal of the programme’s celebrity hosts.
The format gives well-known actors and entertainers the chance to step outside their usual roles and embrace live comedy, with each episode bringing a new host and musical guest.
With Norton’s acting experience and The Streets providing the music, tonight’s episode promises another lively instalment.
What time is Saturday Night Live UK on tonight?
Saturday Night Live UK airs at 10pm on Saturdays on Sky One and is also available to stream on NOW. With Yorkshire’s own James Norton taking centre stage, it’s a chance to see the Happy Valley star in a very different light, and find out how he fares in the unpredictable world of live comedy.
