This Magical & Enchanting Christmas Festival Is Coming To Yorkshire Seaside Town

Christmas events are starting to kick off around Yorkshire. While the cities are set to host their yearly festive markets, it’s the smaller events that we’re on the hunt for. Seaside towns aren’t just for summer with ice cream, and the oldest seaside town, Scarborough, is proving just that with Scarborough Sparkle.

This enchanting Christmas wonderland event is set to take place at the Open Air Theatre. Free to attend, it’s the perfect place on the coast to get into the festive spirit this Christmas. Who knows—you might even get started on some Christmas shopping (or leave it until the last minute like me).

Taking place on the last weekend in November, from the 29th of November to the 1st of December, Scarborough Sparkle runs from Friday night—kicking off with a Sparkle lantern parade—through to Sunday, promising a whole host of fun!

The parade is set to head through Peasholm Park at 5:30 pm and will officially open near the Open Air Theatre at 6 pm, according to Discover Yorkshire Coast.

Expect over 50 stalls, some with festive aromas, serving up classic mulled wine and tasty food offerings, and others selling crafty gifts and more. There’s also a tipi bar—something that has become synonymous with Christmas in recent years. You’ll be able to toast marshmallows there and enjoy live music.

Look out for appearances from some famous characters, including the Grinch, Anna, and Olaf. Kids and big kids alike can enjoy the funfair with its rides, including the show-stopping Ferris wheel, teacup ride, bungee trampolines, and more.

A free bus will run from Eastfield, through the town centre, to Peasholm Park on Saturday and Sunday.
