Halloween, the time of the year when anything becomes ten times scarier. Walking from the bed to the toilet in the night ends up being a frightful experience, with creaks and things you think you may have seen in the dark. Well, imagine that amplified times ten when you stay in the UK’s most haunted castle.
This is one we think we’d like to give a miss, the only thing I’ll let frighten me are London’s prices for a pint of beer. But, if you think you’ve got nerves of steel, or are someone who likes to give themselves a fright this might be for you.
12th Century medieval castle, Chillingham Castle, in Northumberland has been named the most haunted castle in the UK. This is after countless reports of close encounters with spirits from the grave. The title of the most haunted castle was given by the online broker, Mojo Mortgages. They analysed the number of castle mentions in ‘most haunted’ articles as well as sightings on TripAdvisor. After trawling through the internet, Chillingham can be seen as the most haunted.
It’s not surprising the castle has ghosts, it has its own torture chamber! If you can get passed the scary stories and possible chances of running into a ghost, it is a beautifully decorated place with amazing gardens to walk. The starting price for a night is £100, which is pretty good going. There are eight apartments to choose from which all vary in price.
