The Happiest Places To Live In The UK Have Been Revealed – And Yorkshire Makes The List
Yorkshire has made the twice list for the happiest places to live in the UK!

The happiest places to live in the UK have been revealed, and after the shambles that was the worst places to live list, us Yorkshiremen are due a bit of redemption.

Compiled by the UK’s largest property website, Rightmove, the real estate giants utilised their database asking over 22,000 participants in a survey about the place they called home.

The survey used 12 factors to base the results on, including the friendliness of neighbours, local services, how safe residents feel, whether they earn enough to feel comfortable, community spirit and close-by cultural activities.

Now we’ve got to say, the list does bear some significant differences to the ‘worst places to live’, with this one coming across a little… Posher. Turns out a bit of greenery and some fancy cobbles make people a whole lot happier, who knew?

Without further ado, here’s the top 10 happiest places to live in the UK:

10. Southport, Merseyside
9. Sevenoaks, Kent
8. Dorchester, Dorset
7. Monmouth, Wales
6. Altrincham, Manchester
5. Llandrindod Wells, Wales
4. Skipton, Yorkshire
3. Richmond Upon Thames, London
2. Harrogate, Yorkshire
1. Hexham, Northumberland

We’re obviously not surprised that Yorkshire came in there twice, in fact, let’s just replace the whole list with Yorkshire shall we?

Speaking of the results, Rightmove said:

“Our results show that Hexham residents are happiest with the sense of community in the town, feeling a sense of belonging, earning enough to live comfortably, being able to be themselves and being happy with the quality of essential services.”

With their insights expert Lydia Yao continuing:

“This just goes to show that people place enormous value on living somewhere that they’re proud to call home.”

“Our results also show that having friendly neighbours and being able to be yourself remain hugely important factors when measuring the happiest places to live in Great Britain.”

While this year’s winner, Hexham, has historical landmark Hadrian’s Wall and beautiful scenery, Harrogate is best known for its heritage as a luxurious spa town, boasting natural mineral springs, beautiful countryside and most importantly, friendly Yorkshire folk.

We’re sure to top the list in no time!
