This Yorkshire Bookshop Has Been Named Best In The North Of England

I love a bookshop. From the window displays, to the smell of books and all the different genres all under one roof. And, this Yorkshire bookshop has been named the best independent book retailer in the north of England.

Wave of Nostalgia is fittingly located in the Bronte country village of Haworth in West Yorkshire and was selected by the publishing magazine, the Bookseller. It will now compete against eight other bookshops in and around the UK and Ireland for the overall Independent Bookshop of the Year Award.

The British Book Awards was established back in 1990 and aims to highlight authors and illustrators in the industry. The awards is judged by leading industry experts, authors, journalists and celebrities and are seen as the ‘BAFTAs of the book trade’.

If they win, they will be in the running to be named Book Retailer of the Year title. Winners are set to be announced at the British Book Awards ceremony in London on the 13th May.

Opening on the cobbled streets of Haworth in 2013, located amongst independent cafes, restaurants and shops all found on the old-fashioned street.

The book shop is themed on strong woeman, conservation and LGBTQ+. Owner Diane Park, spoke to the BBC saying: “Our stock is designed by inspiring women, some local, some further afield but all in the UK.”

Speaking about the award she said it was “really very special and we’d like to thank everyone who has helped us to achieve this in only our third year as booksellers.”
