There’s nothing better than a good farm shop. Sitting down and enjoying a cooked breakfast using locally-sourced ingredients before wandering the aisles looking at all the most tastiest oils, spices, meats and more planning the dishes that you’ll never cook. Instead, you buy all those tasty cheeses with crackers and chutneys and indulge for the rest of the afternoon. The perfect Sunday, we know.
And three Yorkshire farm shops have been named as some of the best in the UK after being shortlisted for the Farm Shop & Deli Show regional finals in its 2024 Retailer Awards. Judging took place in November. Judges whittled this years list down to the three in Yorkshire along with one in Durham for the region.
The awards aims to celebrate the UK’s best-loved specialist retailers, pillars of their respective communities – championing great produce and sustainable practice.
Featured in the list was a favourite of ours at The Yorkshireman. Yolk Farm Shop near Boroughbridge North Yorkshire. It is reckoned to be the world’s first egg restaurant serving up all-day brunch situated on a real working free-range egg farm. And, after our recent visit, we have to say, the food and farm shop are amazing places to visit.

Judge Matt Whelan, MD Fieldfare who champions the Retailer Awards, said: “We are delighted to champion the Farm Shop & Deli Show Retailer Awards.
“What a great experience to be a member of the judging panel! Having the opportunity to see so many fantastic independent retailers, reviewing the many approaches they take to delivering a wonderful experience for their shoppers, was both a pleasure and challenge.”
