Timothée Chalamet has surprised everyone with his latest revelation whilst doing the press rounds promoting the new musical-prequel for Willy Wonka. In the new cinematic hit, the actor plays takes on the titular role of the top-hatted chocolatier from Roald Dahl‘s 1964 children’s classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
In an interview with LADbible, he revealed his love for a certain Yorkshire accent. I know. Crazy. And, it has sent people into a frenzy with the post gaining over 35k likes in two hours. It seems that hanging around Oompa-Loompas has given him a taste for an accent.
The new film was written by Brit-cinema royalty, writer Simon Farnaby and writer-director Paul King (who worked on the popular Paddington). The film is set to be a Christmas hit with reviews singing its praises.
Speaking in the clip posted to LADbible’s Instagram, Chalamet says: “I like the Hull accent”. He carries on saying “Hull is sexy”. “I like Hull, Essex is in my top three “And, I like a middle-aged Northern accent”.

There you have it. Hollywood A-lister has a thing for all things up North. You’re in look if you’re a middle-aged person as well. Double chances of bagging yourself a Chalamet. What’s even stranger than the actor knowing the Hull accent, is that he’s dating Kylie Jenner, meaning one of the Kardashian’s could be also aware of the beautiful accent that is Hull (or ‘Ull, as it’s pronounced properly).
People were quick to comment on the actors choice with one person saying: ” don’t know who he is but the lads got good taste”.
Another user agreed writing: “as someone from hull this is the best thing i’ve ever seen”. And a third wrote: “I knew he was looking for me like I’m looking for him! Middle aged Yorkshire right here for you TC”.
Top Hull page Friends On Every Street was over joyed with the news writing: “Yes then Tim one of us lad, the UK’s sexiest accent confirmed”, and we couldn’t’ agree more.
Wonka is in cinemas from December 8th (tomorrow) in the UK, and something tells me Hull cinemas are going to be full. If you suddenly want to learn how to speak like you’re from Hull to bag yourself a Chalamet they check out our list of Hull Slang.
