Yorkshire is becoming a haven for celeb-spotting over the last year or so. You could throw a stick and hit a movie star or musician (well maybe not that popular). But, earlier in the year we had Tom Cruise in the North York Moors filming the latest instalment of the Mission: Impossible franchise and also Indiana Jones protagonist himself Harrison Ford ventured to the iconic Yorkshire National Park. Well, now one of our seaside towns has had one of the most famous people on the planet come to visit.
Saltburn-by-the-sea is a popular tourist spot during the summer months, with thousands flocking to its sandy beaches and to view its beautiful promenade.

Well, Peaky Blinders star Tom Hardy popped over for a brisk walk and one lucky coffee shop owner Andrew Smith, who runs Saltburn Minigolf got the pleasure of meeting the Holywood legend.
Posting to the minigolf Facebook page he wrote: “We get a lot of famous people visiting our wonderful resort, but today was a bit special with a visit from Tom Hardy.
“For star spotting and Minigolf come and join us were open from 11-4pm daily.

He was amazed when the Hollywood star was seen visiting the North Yorkshire seaside town yesterday. He visited the local coffee shop which is situated next to the iconic Saltburn promenade, for a round of warm drinks.
YorkshireLive reported that he said: “I recognised him straight away. I liked Peaky Blinders when he played Alfie Solomons and The Krays when he played the Kray brothers, so I’m a bit of a fan… I’m a 50-year-old bloke and I got a bit flustered, I couldn’t really concentrate.

“We have quite a lot of footballers and managers come but we have never had anyone of that kind of calibre down there!”
“I think he was wanting to go for a swim! I was in his company for five to six minutes while we served a coffee.
“He was a nice bloke. He seemed like a really down to earth guy… It’s good for Saltburn to have somebody of that status there. It was quite an exciting day!”
It’s no surprise Hardy was spotted in the area as his wife, Stockton actress Charlotte Riley, is local to the area – and has been spotted previously out in Yarm and at Darlington Railway Station.
Fans of the star will know him from the likes of Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, Venom and Mad Max:Fury Road, and many more. Although, the mums out there will know him for his appearance on CBeebies, reading the nation’s kids a bedtime story. Plenty of mums slept well that night…
