You don’t have to go to Amsterdam to see beautiful cascades of colour when God’s Own Country has its own festival dedicated to the spring flower. The annual Tulip Festival at Burnby Hall Gardens in Pocklington draws in thousands of visitors to East Yorkshire each year. Always a popular event, the magnificent spot unique spot to visit.
This year’s festival will be made up of around 18,000 tulips with over 130 varieties curated across the gardens that are known for the impressive National Collection of over one hundred varieties of Hardy Water Lily, which bloom on the two ornamental lakes in the summer.
Taking place from Saturday 18th April to Saturday 9th May, the annual tulip event is set to be a spectacular event at Pocklington’s unique Gardens at Burnby Hall. The Gardens are open between 10 am and 5.30 pm daily (with last entry at 4.30 pm).

Curated by Head Gardener, Jill Ward, the Tulip Festival in Yorkshire is a culmination of months of planning and with the gardens being seven consecutive winners of the prestigious Yorkshire in Bloom Gold Award, we expect big things. The tulip planting is done with care and attention and is part of several formal gardens situated around its lakes.

A spokesperson for Burnby Hall Gardens and Museum said: “While best known for our impressive national collection of over 100 varieties of Hardy Water Lily, which bloom on the two ornamental lakes in the summer, the Tulip Festival attracts many thousands of visitors to Pocklington’s unique Gardens in the spring.”
