Two Yorkshire Towns Named Some Of The Best ‘Hidden Gems’ In The UK

Unspoiled landscapes, quaint towns hellbent on retaining original features and tradition… It’s no wonder people love Yorkshire as much as they do.

Before the pandemic, our region was long underrated, constantly overlooked in favour of our Southern counterparts – but now? The world has seen our hidden gems for exactly what they are. Gems. Gleaming, shining examples of how beautiful the world could be (and is) when you really take pride in something.

Collating data in the name of the trendy staycation, HomeToGo has branded two Yorkshire towns and villages two of the best hidden gems in the UK, with just twenty locations making the cut.

Ranked according to search data, average summer temperatures, pubs, outdoors activities, picturesqueness, accommodation prices and availability, the holiday rental experts wanted to shine a light on some of the lesser known destinations – a great idea considering the holiday boom this summer has seen so far.

Coming in sixth place is stunning Yorkshire Dales town, Hawes, which has become well-known for its unique landscape that boasts the beautiful Gayle Beck curiously running right through it.

Rated highly for its pub offering, scenery and price of accommodation, Hawes is a worthy contender for one of the Dales most beautiful locations – sitting pretty bang in the middle of the National Park near some of the region’s most gorgeous sights.

In addition to Hawes, the lovely village of Reeth made the cut, too, sitting in tenth place thanks to its good weather and availability of accommodation.

Located by the River Swale and just a short drive from historic Richmond, Reeth is a fantastic option for those looking to explore more than just the local area, with tons of things to see right on its doorstep.
