Rumours Circulate That Woolworths Is Set To Return To The UK High Street Next Year

The news that 2020 needed! Everyone loved Woolworths back when it was about, it had something for everyone. From its pick n’ mix counter to its huge DVD and CD deals, the news that it is making a return to the high street is top-notch nostalgia.

The store is due to re-open in late 2021 with three trial stores, over ten years after it went into administration back in 2008, closing all stores in January 2009. The announcement was made on their newly made Twitter page, where the retailer said: “Here to save 2020! Woolworths is coming back to your high street, as a physical store!

“A couple of legal things to get sorted, but we’re full steam ahead at Woolworths HQ.

“We want to get this right, so we need your help. What do you want at your UK #YourWoolworths?”

There’s no denying ‘Woolies’ was where it was at back in the 90s, so it will be interesting to see whether they will stick to a similar style as previous shops, or whether they are planning to modernise their image to compete with today’s market. It’s currently not known where the three trial stores will open, however, all we know is we will be making a b-line straight the for pick n mix… Just need to practice stuffing as much as physically possible in those little containers!
