If there’s one thing England has a lot of, it’s shit holes… And apparently, Yorkshire has many of them. That’s of course according to ilivehere.co.uk which has ranked the top 10 worst places to live in England.
Utilising the voice of their audience, ilivehere.co.uk asked their followers to vote for the worst places to live in England, and more than double last year’s participants from last year didn’t hold back. A whopping 105,598 residents voted for the worst places to live in the UK.
Now, us Yorkshire folk all know that we’re far superior to the rest of England… Even our bad parts were handcrafted by God for a reason, and if you ask us, only we Yorkshireman can say any of them are shit holes. But that didn’t stop participants from voting for a fair few of our beloved towns and villages in the list.
Some big surprises in this year’s top worst places to live in 2023 in England are York being voted worst than The Yorkshireman’s local city of Hull with York coming in at 41 and Hull only just landing in the top 50 at 48.
Other Yorkshire places featured in the top 50 worst places to live were Doncaster in 45th place, and Middlesborough in 25th place. This year’s top 10 has been made into a swish video which you can watch below:
If you want to check the full list out you can over to the Ilivehere website here. Only one Yorkshire city features in the top 10 list this year. Bradford is a non-mover from last year’s Worst Places To Live list.
Huddersfield featured in second place last year and is not even in the top 50 this year which is a vast difference. Obviously, these lists are done a bit tongue-in-cheek and aren’t to be taken seriously.
Here’s the top 10 worst places to live in England 2023 (apparently):
10. Bradford

A non-mover this year, Bradford, which is set to be the city of culture for 2025 is once again in 10th place. The city which has some beautiful architecture in the centre gets a bad rap for a range of reasons.
It was described as a “land of dreams if you dream of takeaways and pound shops”.
9. Bournemouth
8. Swindon
7. Andover
6. Aldershot
5. Aylesbury
4. Slough
3. Portsmouth
2. Peterborough
1. Luton
