York Has Been Named Most Popular City In The UK – Beating London

A recent YouGov poll has named the historic city of York as the nation’s favourite city in the UK. The North Yorkshire is popular with tourists and locals alike, so it’s no surprise that it’s hit the top spot. With a great mix of culture and fun, it’s a great place to spend some time – even if it’s just wandering the cobbled streets.

York is home to the likes of York Minster, the cobbled streets if The Shambles, Clifford’s Tower and its beautiful walls. All of which are in walking distance of each other, making for the perfect walking tour of a city.

On top of that it has hundreds of pubs, restaurants and bars to frequent once you’ve tired you’re little legs out and recharge. Each with its own unique charm and story to tell. No wonder this small cathedral city is winning the hearts of the nation.

The YouGov poll, saw York beat out the likes of Edinburgh and London, which came in second and third place with its score of 74% of people saying they liked the town. Edinburgh matched with the same score, but London had a huge 11% difference.
