Known for its cocktails, this York bar was a favourite of ours back in the uni days. We remember sinking a few Donkeyoties as part of its 2-4-1 deals, which are all night Monday to Thursday and until 10pm on weekends. Found just off Coney Street new street, expect low ceilings and other quirks that come with oldstyle building in York. Open until 2am, this is hands down one of the best bars in York to visit.

Along with cocktails they also sell craft beers, wines and a range of food options, our favrouite being their BBQ sharer platters. During the day you can enjoy Artisan coffee and a quiet place to pass the time. The self proclaimed ‘York’s second coolest bar’, Fossgate Social serves up artisan goffee, craft beer and a range of cocktails on York’s coolest street of the same name Fossgate. Independent and proud the interior of the bar has a stripped back industrial vibe that gives of New York city bar scene. We love it’s quaint, cosy bench seating feel which is the perfect place to enjoy one of its craft ales from good breweries including its own ice cream factory brewery.

We love the cosy beer garden at the back which feels like you’ve stepped into a secret garden. Have a chat with friends and make some new ones over cocktails created by the bars talented staff. One of the cool bars in York, you need to visit whether on a first date, second date or honeymoon. Any day of the week won’t disappoint, you’ve got The Yorkshireman’s seal of approval.

Found amongst the labrynth of cobbled streets in the shadow of the Minster amongst a a crowd of independent bars, restaurants & shops just off the tourist paths. 1331 is a great spot for a date night with cocktails, with its quaint and snug feel and qualty home cooked meals. But, don’t think that means its a snooze fest on the weekends. This snug bar turns into a lively late night bar with beers, spirits wines and more.

Home to the best mojito in town, BoBo LoBo is another fantastic cocktail bar in York city centre, when you enter the bar found on Stonegate, you’re greeted by a stylish Latin themed cocktail bar that serves up a range of fancy cocktails. The groundfloor conservatory space becomes a dance floor on a night with live DJs making it the perfect place to let off some steam.

If that’s not what takes your fancy you can head up to the rooftop and enjoy a shisha experience on their terrace. Impossible Wonderbar and Tea Rooms York is located in St Helen’s square in the Terry’s Chocolate Orange building which is a Grade II listed building. The cocktail bar creates a variety of amazing cocktails, but our favourite has to be the nod towards its heritage with a Terry’s Orange Martini.

Taking a different approach to sister bar Impossible MCR, Impossible York transformed the iconic Terry’s building into a stunningly opulent cocktail bar, restaurant and tearoom – with a stage for performances bringing the building back to life. Found riverside on Skeldergate Bridge, Dyls is the old Motor House and serves up the best craft beer and cocktails that the city has to offer. It’s one of York’s newer cocktail bars, but has made a name for itself despite that. Why not climb up to the hexagonal tower room and enjoy the views out over York city centre – you won’t find much better views anywhere else. It has amazing ceiling beams high gothic windows that give the place a sense of granduer.

The quaint cafe & bar offers contemporary cuisine and drinks to enjoy on its terrace. The over-engineered Victorian folly has a tower-like layout that mimics clifford’s tower and other older buildings that it sits near to.
