The York Ice Sculpture Trail is back for 2022. Looking for something exciting to do this weekend? Well, North Yorkshire’s favourite event York Ice Trail is back again and this year’s theme is Around the World.
After a year out due to the pandemic, it’s back bigger than ever. Make It York has put together a fantastic sculpture trail with over 40 sculptures to hunt down. It’s a great treat for families to enjoy searching all over York city centre.
You’ll be transported Around the World via this year’s sculptures! From the Park & Ride on Parliament Street to Bettys Express Train on Davygate, it’s great fun for all ages, and a perfect excuse to get out and about this weekend (Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th March).
Middletons Hotel groups are set to be transformed into an Alice in Wonderland-themed world with four magical ice sculptures with props – perfect for these Instagrammable shots or just a pic to show grandma and grandad.
There are also seven Disney-inspired sculptures courtesy of York BID – one for every continent in the world. Furthermore famous York landmarks will be carved into ice across Exhibition Square for ‘The York Skyline’ from City of York Council.
Ice Box, ice sculptures will be giving live demonstrations in St Sampson’s Square with the opportunity for you to have a go yourselves on the graffiti wall.
Councillor Keith Aspden, Leader of the Council, said: “York Ice Trail was, I’m sure, missed by many last year, so it’s excellent to see the much-loved event return once again in March for residents, families and visitors to enjoy safely.
“Our city is well known and loved for its vibrant businesses, so many of whom have joined the festivities this year, with an impressive 40 sculptures set to bring some extra magic to the city.”
