York’s New Rooftop Bar Is The Perfect Place For Cocktails This Summer

York city centre is getting an exciting new addition in the form of a boutique hotel. The Malmaison hotel chain is set to breathe new life into the landmark Aviva insurance building next to the picturesque Lendal Bridge.

The iconic building that has thousands of tourists pass it every day will offer stylish bedrooms, modern interior. Best of all – the York Malmaison will feature a rooftop bar, a very welcome addition to the city’s hospitality scene.

Situating itself in one of the most beautiful cities in the UK, the hotel will offer the chance to enjoy a cocktail overlooking the stunning skyline and the nearby river – with pan-Asian sharing plates making up the menu.

In the brasserie you can enjoy some of your favourite meals and classic cocktails such as a good ol’ Old Fashioned and Whiskey Sours as well as a range of Malmaison’s signature cocktails.

Its Sora bar will be on its seventh floor and offers exceptional views of the city centre which match the standard of the food and cocktails on offer. They’re offering up a range of Asian inspired cocktails such as their peach and lychee spritz and cherry blossom negroni.

Their food menu is just as great serving up a range of cold and grilled plated. Our favourites are the aticky pork belly and the glzed beef short rib, which are out of this world.

The York Malmaison hotel – which takes its inspiration from the city’s industrial heritage and brutalist architecture – will have 150 stylish and modern guest rooms, as well as spa facilities and a gym for guests to enjoy.

There will also be event space with the capacity for 180, meeting rooms and an on-site Starbucks for your caffeine fix.
