York Spot Set To Host Hosts Two-Day Craft Beer & Street Food Festival

The Old Liquor Store, the stylish neighbourhood bistro housed in the historic Grade II-listed Terry’s Chocolate Works in York, is set to host a two-day celebration of beer, cider, food and live entertainment this summer. The festival will take place on Thursday, 29th and Friday, 30th August, transforming the landmark venue into a hub of flavour and festivity.

At the heart of the event is Yorkshire’s thriving craft beer scene. Six cask ales will be pouring, including three from the award-winning Half Moon Brewery in Ellerton: the amber-hued Old Forge, the grapefruit-noted Chinook, and a vibrant Session IPA packed with tropical fruit flavours. They’ll be joined by North Riding’s Crush, Abbeydale’s Serenity, and Dr Morton’s quirkily named Rocket Surgery.

The drinks line-up also features refreshing ciders such as Brew York’s Big Apple, Westons Old Rosie, and Lilley’s Mango Cider, plus Mahou lager, Guinness, artisan gins from Hooting Owl Distillery, and a selection of rums.

Head chef Matt Leivers will be serving a bold street food menu designed to complement the brews, with dishes ranging from crispy salt and pepper squid with red miso mayo to the indulgent Cow Back Mac beef burger and the playful Chippy Tea cod fingers with curry sauce. Vegetarian and vegan options, including cauliflower pakora and the Poncho burrito bean burger, ensure there’s something for everyone.

Live music will keep the atmosphere buzzing, with a line-up of local talent topped by York-based singer-songwriter Will Dreyfus.

Owner Ben Williams said: “We’re fortunate to have some of the finest beer and spirit producers on our doorstep, so we’re delighted to spotlight homegrown independents and artisans that reflect the true spirit of Yorkshire. The festival is about more than just beer – it’s about celebrating creativity, craft, community and collaboration.”

The festival runs from 4pm–11pm on 29th August and 12pm–11pm on 30th August. Entry is free, and while booking isn’t required, tables can be reserved at via the website here.
