Many of us are feeling more charitable than ever after a year in lockdown, and if we’re going to head out into the great outdoors to stretch our legs this summer – we may as well do it for a good cause. 1. McCain Yorkshire Coast 10K
Planting a tree for every single race entry, the McCain Yorkshire Coast 10K is a fantastic run to get behind if you care for the environment. Taking place on October 17th, participants can register their entry from 7am on the first of June, however, those looking to take part will need to act fast as spots book up really fast. 2. MacMillan Mighty Hikes

MacMillan is hosting a number of ‘Mighty Hikes’ this year to raise money for their fantastic cancer support charity, with a 26-mile hike taking place in Malham, Yorkshire Dales this July. It’s currently sold out, however, you can join the waiting list here.
3. Dementia UK’s Yorkshire Challenge
New for this year, Dementia UK is taking to the Yorkshire Dales this July 17th and 18th to raise money for dementia causes, with the walk spanning 100km (62 miles). It’s a challenging walk, but totally worth it for the views and the fantastic cause that affects so many of us. Find out more here.
4. Cancer Research Yorkshire Challenge
If cancer charities have a place closer to your heart, you can participate in the same 100km walk for Cancer Research UK, with the event taking place on July 17th. Again, it’s a tough old walk, but totally worth the sore legs afterwards. Find out more here.
5. Marie Curie Yorkshire Three Peaks

Marie Curie is challenging fundraisers to the gruelling 12-hour Three Peaks walk this June 26th – raising funds for the terminally ill. While this year’s event is unfortunately at capacity now, you can get in touch to find out if anyone drops out – or register your interest for next year’s walk. Find out more.
6. Marie Curie Whitby Coastal Trek
An easier 12-mile walk for those who want to take part in a charity challenge this year, but aren’t quite ready for something as big as the Three Peaks, the Whitby Coastal Trek helps to raise funds for Marie Curie’s fantastic charity – which helps those living with terminal illnesses. The walk takes place on September 4th, and you can sign up here.
7. British Heart Foundation Yorkshire Challenge
Another charity taking part in the July Yorkshire Challenge this year, the British Heart Foundation is allowing fundraisers to take the 100km walk for their fantastic cause, with spectacular views for a great cause. Find out more.
8. NSPCC Yorkshire Challenge

9. MND Association Yorkshire Three Peaks
Challenging participants to 24 miles as part of the Yorkshire Three Peaks walk, the MND Association, which raises vital funds for those suffering with Motor Neurone Disease, welcomes fundraisers to join them on August 7th, with entries open here.
10. Alzheimer’s UK Yorkshire Challenge
Another charity fundraisers can get involved with for this July’s Yorkshire Challenge, Alzheimer’s UK will be taking part – and you can sign up here.
11. British Red Cross The Yorkshire Marathon
The Yorkshire Marathon will take place in York on 17th October, and fundraisers can help raise vital funds for the British Red Cross – which supports those in need during crisis both in the UK and internationally. Sign up here.
12. Mind Yorkshire Three Peaks

The Mind charity, which supports those suffering with mental health issues, is challenging fundraisers to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks on July 18th, with an enduring 12-hour hike through Yorkshire’s famous peaks. Sign up here.
