Sheffield has made its mark at the 2024 British Street Food Awards, with two local food halls earning top accolades. Cambridge Street Collective took home the prestigious Best Food Hall award, while Cutlery Works received an honourable mention. Both venues are operated by Blend and were selected from a pool of 16 finalists through public voting.
The British Street Food Awards, held annually, celebrate the vibrant street food culture across the UK, showcasing everything from gourmet burgers to vegetarian fare and desserts. The awards highlight not only the food but also the innovative entrepreneurs and vendors behind these thriving independent businesses.
The finalists were carefully selected from thousands of applicants across the country, with a panel of judges—including Michelin-starred chefs, food activists, and street food icons—choosing winners across various categories.
Cambridge Street Collective, located in Sheffield’s city centre, secured the Best Food Hall title. This venue is part of the city’s £470 million Heart of the City II regeneration project. Boasting Europe’s largest purpose-built food hall, it features 20 international kitchens and four bars, all housed under one roof, making it a culinary hub that reflects Sheffield’s dynamic food scene.
Sheffield’s success at the British Street Food Awards is a testament to its thriving street food community and innovative culinary offerings.
A Cambridge Street Collective statement read: “Three months since we opened our doors and yesterday we were crowned the Best Food Hall in the UK 2024 award! Bringing home this award means the world to us and Sheffield with our sister food hall Cutlery Works (winner of Best Food Hall award 2022 & 2023) in the top three!
“But this is made all possible thanks to our food partners and our team who push the boundaries daily and to all our guests who voted for us. We appreciate you all!”
