A halfway house in the Yorkshire Dales located up one of the most famous Three Peaks routes has gone up for sale. The 400-year-old house is completely off grid and the nearest public road is about 1.5 miles way – which after a Christmas of socialising sounds ideal right about now.
Only accessible by a 4×4 vehicle, Crina Bottom is a popular house with photographers, which isn’t surprising as it sits nicely on the mountainside with no sign of life around. Located on the slopes of Ingleborough it’s also a popular landmark for walkers.
The closest village is Ingleton and the 17th-century house is on the market for £750,000. It’s a four-bedroom house and its electricity is generated through a wind turbine and water sourced from the mountainside. Also, used are a biomass boiler, fed by wood pellets to heat the property.

It’s currently being used by the owners as an accommodation business and kiosk for walkers for refreshements in the summer months., according to Mr Spratt of the Estate agents Fisher Hopper, who spoke to the BBC.

It’s described as an opportunity to reconnect with nature with Hopper highlighting that it was “surrounded by silence, only broken by the sounds of wildlife”.
Hopper, continues: “It’s a very unique property given its location. We don’t see them come on the market very often. Mr Spratt described Crina Bottom as an “iconic property” and a “one-off”.
The Yorkshire Dales is one of our favourite places to visit – and the Three Peaks is a popular walking challenge that sees thousands ascend on the route all year round. If you’re looking to get back to basics, then this house could be the one for you. If you can afford the three-quarters of a million price tag that is.
