7 Ways To Spend A Magical Christmas In Leeds This Year

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! And, we couldn’t be more excited. Yorkshire’s biggest city is getting into the festive spirit and there is plenty to do when you visit Leeds this festive season. We’ve found some of the most incredible things to do and see whilst you visit.

1. Enjoy a cocktail or two in Leeds’ festive bars

We love it when the city’s bars and restaurants are decorated all twinkly and warm and serve up some festive delights. Tattu has created its own winter wonderland and is serving up a special Christmas sharer menu with festive cocktails.

The modern Chinese restaurant doesn’t do things by half and you can enjoy their Christmas specials. It will also be open on both Boxing Day and New Year’s Day for the first time ever – and open late on Christmas Eve, for those who can’t quite go to bed – with the final reservation being 10pm.

Leeds top rooftop bar has also had an alpine makeover ready for Crimbo. You can Until February 2022, the rooftop space will be transformed into a Winter Lodge-inspired retreat, with silky florals and snow-like accent features.

2. Chill with friends at Chow Down’s winter wonderland

The hip venue Chow Down has transformed itself into a beautiful winter village filling the gap left by the German Markets. You can enjoy incredible street food like tacos and crepes – as well as festive classics pigs in blankets, hog roasts, boozy hot chocolates and warm winter cocktails.

Stay warm and festive in the outdoor areas with heaters and lights, and enjoy the live entertainment from a range of DJs.

3. Go ice skating at the Millennium Square ice rink

Strap on your skates from the 26th of November and visit the huge ice rink. It’s open every day, so you can practice your ice skating skills anytime.

After you’ve worked up an appetite visit one of the local and international street food stalls available from Alpine inspired chalet-style huts including authentic German bratwurst sausages, glühwein and bier, good ol’ Yorkshire pudding wraps, Canadian style poutine, pizza & garlic bread, churros, waffles, coffee, hot chocolate.

4. Head to the festive food Christmas market at Leeds Corn Exchange

The Leeds Corn exchange Christmas market sounds like a festive treat. They will be serving up an array of beers from local brewers such as North Brewing Co, as well as Camden Brewery and Orchard Pig Cider. range of street food traders from all things cheesy & charcuterie from The Cheesy Living Co, Egyptian street food from Masri as well as OnaRoll, Raclettmenot, Heffe Mojo and more to be announced!

The main bar will be serving up festive tipples every Thursday to Sunday from 12pm to 10pm, with plenty of time to enjoy a bevvie. And the festival will be going on up until the 23rd December.

5. Get cosy in the festive beer gardens

Fancy a few cocktails in a festive beer garden? Rolands in the city centre has gone all out this Christmas! Their incredible beer garden has been transformed into a cost winter terrace perfect for enjoying drinks with friends.

Local favourite Kirkstall Bridge Inn has brought back their incredible tipi with fire pit for you to have a nice local pint with friends – best of all your furry friends are welcome too.

6. Visit Victoria Gate Leeds miniature German Market

Victoria Gate has been transformed into the most beautiful winter wonderland with a whole host of beautiful Christmas displays. Outside, enjoy a range of food and homemade gifts set in alpine cabins.

7. Go Christmas shopping in the festive Trinity Shopping Centre

Last-minute shopping is the worst, but not when you visit Trinity Shopping Centre over December. It is decorated beautifully and The Savvy Baker is also there over the festive period every weekend serving up the tastiest baked treats – winning.
