Please note this article incorrectly stated that Jimmy’s York would be operating as a live music venue. Jimmy’s will not be bringing the live music arm to York.
A popular Manchester rock bar has opened a new place in York 2021. Founded back in 2016 by York bandmates and brothers George and Jimmy from One Night Only, who had huge success back in the early 2000s with Just For Tonight, Jimmy’s amassed a huge following in Manchester, and it has become known for the place to watch underground artists and up and coming performers. Now, expanded into Yorkshire – the well-known spot will be honing in on their new food offering with a brand new restaurant in York.

And while their other two venues have seen huge success as live music venues, the York addition will not include that element – focusing solely on BBQ food, cocktails and fantastic beers.
The original venue, which opened in Manchester’s Norther Quarter, is currently undergoing a huge move which will see the bar take up residence in up and coming neighbourhood Ancoats.
The bar also has a venue in Liverpool, which has seen great success as a restaurant, where guests can enjoy a Sunday roast with bottomless gravy.
They’ve now opened on Low Petergate , and are offering bottomless brunch, their own craft beer and great tunes. They have two bars and dining rooms over two floors, which will be available from 17th May.
The interior seems to be in keeping with York’s traditional vibe, using the cool light fittings and leather seating. And then Jimmy’s have added their classic neon twist and rock n’ roll vibe. We approve! Take a look around with the video below:
They’ve opened up the courtyard as of today and are taking booking, which you can do here.

Speaking to YorkMix about the upcoming venue, founder and director George Craig said: “York is our home city as a family. My brother and I carved out our music careers from York; Fibbers in the early Noughties was such a big deal for us.
“We grew up in Helmsley and York is our home city, and the vision is to add something that we feel is truly missing, right down to the food and drink and music.
“It will be a pub for music, food and drink lovers, right in the centre of the city.”
