Fish & chips by the coast is how the nationās favourite dish has to be enjoyed. And, seaside towns donāt get much better than Whitby. The beautiful spot offers up dramatic views towards Whitbyās famous East and West Piers out to the North Sea ā and you can enjoy them at this fish & chips restaurant.
Abbey Wharf is a wonderful restaurant that overlooks the harbour in Whitby and offers up a fantastic menu that can be enjoyed with incredible views of the fishing boats, busy streets and more. In the summer months youāll find this place packed with visitors. And, itās not surprising, who wouldnāt want to sit overlooking the pier with a nice cold beer on the balcony?
The huge restaurants seats over 250 people, and has tables for small to bigger groups ā so itās a great spot if youāre celebrating with friends and family. For us, it has to be the balcony for al fresco dining like no other. Itās our spot to visit when we want to enjoy amazing fish & chips whilst watching the world go by.

The fish and chips are popular with tourists and locals alike ā and we also recommend the fish cakes that we had on our visit as they were HUGE. And, so tasty. You can choose to have your fish and chips with the classics like peas, gravy or curry sauce as well as their own tartare sauce.
If you want something else the restaurant also serve a variety of delicious seafood, steaks, salads and other dishes, alongside vegetarian options as well as Gluten Free meals.Ā
The Abbey Wharf serves up a great selection of traditional beers, wines and spirits as well as cocktails that are freshly made every day by their expert bar staff. They even have a pour your own pint section that we took full advantage of.
