All Creatures Great and Small fans will be delighted at the news that the popular Channel 5 show is returning tonight at 9pm for an All Creatures Great and Small Christmas special. The equivalent of a warm cup of hot chocolate on a winter’s night, the special is sure to get people in the Christmas spirit.

The first season, which follows the life of James Herriot, a newly qualified veterinary assistant from Glasgow, received critical and fan acclaim. The show, which is a reboot of BBC classic, has become Channel 5’s highest-rated show since February 2016. The news of an All Creatures Great and Small Christmas special may not be surprising given the popularity of the show.

We don’t know much about the festive episode yet, besides that it opens on Christmas Eve, the day before Helen and Hugh – the show keeping their lips sealed on any spoilers, but we know that it has been filmed and will be arriving this December. We know we can’t wait for more glimpses of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales which makes up the backdrop to this quirky show.
The trailer dropped yesterday and it showed James coming to check up on a pregnant pup. They discuss the wedding day and James says he won’t be going. Excitement as exam results turn up as well, we can’t wait. Can you?
Channel 5 recently announced the second series of All Creatures Great and Small reboot, so fans are having their cake and eating it. Ben Frow, Channel 5’s director of programmes said, “Whatever happens we are going to do it again… I think it is an important piece of our portfolio and I think it is something that we should have amongst our drama mix and I’m very proud of it.”
All Creatures Great and Small has concluded on Channel 5, however, you can catch up on My5 now.
