All Creatures Great and Small have been seen back in the Yorkshire Dales transforming Grassington once more to film the next series of the popular Channel 5 series. But, what can we expect from All Creatures Great and Small series 4?

The series follows the series of books written by real-life vet Alf Wight, who wrote under the pen name James Herriot about his adventures in the Yorkshire Dales.

The second world war was prevalent in the third series of the show with many storylines being inspired by events of the time including the Christmas special, which saw a refugee come stay with the gang and share her religion.

The special also set up the biggest shock for viewers with Tristan choosing to sign up for the war effort.

We can guess from the Christmas special that the show will be heavily influenced by the war in as James Herriot grapples with the decision to stay or go.

We can certainly expect all of the main All Creatures Great and Small cast to feature in the new series. It is unclear how much Tristan will be present as he heads out to war.

James and Helen’s relationship will hopefully see some new revelations with Helen worried about James and his decisions regarding the war.

Will we be seeing Mrs Hall’s love interest develop? We sure hope so! She could do with it after dealing with everyone else’s drama in Skeldale House.

Alf Wight’s children have shown their excitement about the new series Jim Wight and Rosie Page said: “For many years the books of James Herriot have provided a source of comfort to tens of thousands of people worldwide at difficult times in their lives. With this recent adaptation of his books, a new generation has been introduced to the joys of the Herriot stories.

“We are delighted that there are to be at least two more series of All Creatures Great and Small, and we are especially pleased that the same excellent actors and producers are to be involved.”
