Around 50 Seals Spotted At Flamborough Head This Weekend

A large group of seals were spotted at Flamborough head this weekend. They were spotted by a family on their family Sunday walk on their public beach in the distance through a cave.

Posting to the group Flamborough Wildlife on Facebook, Gemma Bottrill and her family from Bridlington, said they’d spotted the group of “around 50 seals” whilst out on a walk they’d do many times. The unique piece of footage was caught from a rock nearby and shows the cute seals bobbing along on the rocks.

The family quite the footage from a safe distance, and were amazed by what they saw! They were surprised as they’d never seen so many seals together before. They said they had “never witnessed such fantastic sightings on a public beach”.

The seals can be seen heading towards the sea, before having a swim together. They headed through the cave into the sea and it looks like such a sight to rememeber.

It’s great to see the family kept their distance and let the seals play. The Yorkshire Seal Organisation advice is to keep out of sight, quiet, and downwind. They also advise you to keep well away and use binoculars, or your zoom on your phone (which the family did). Also, do not feed them, take selfies with them or fly drones near them.

We here at The Yorkshireman are very jealous of their find, they’re such a cute creature, and we’d love to be able to see some in their natural habitat.
