BBC have released the trailer to the highly anticipated trailer from the new drama, The Reckoning telling the twisted tale of TV presenter and DJ, Jimmy Savile.
The air date for the show 9th October, Steve Coogan, known for his famous character Alan partridge, is set to take on the task of playing Savile.
The BBC drama The Reckoning is set to be a four-part series where Coogan takes on the hard task of playing the disgraced Leeds-born personality.

Written by Neil McKay, who’s previous has written other true crime dramas including Four Lives and Appropriate Adult, the series will explore Leeds-born Savile’s rise to fame, as well as his dark double life and how he used his “celebrity and powerful connections to conceal his wrongdoings and to hide in plain sight”.
The broadcaster said about the show: “Savile used his involvement in multiple organisations, such as the BBC, hospitals, prisons, and charities, to legitimise himself, forging friendships in show business, politics, journalism, the Catholic Church and even the Royal family to cement his position.”

Due to its nature, it’s taken a long time in production and was due to be released back in 2022 but was reportdely delayed due the death of Queen Elizabeth, according to Radio Times.
Coogan said “To play Jimmy Savile was not a decision I took lightly. Neil McKay has written an intelligent script tackling sensitively an horrific story which – however harrowing – needs to be told.”
Supporting cast in The Reckoning includes Siobhan Finneran from Happy Valley, Gemma Jones from Gentleman Jack and Mark Stanley, Robert Emms and Mark Lewis Jones.
