Yorkshire is set to be home to ‘Europe’s biggest food hall’ as Cambridge Street Collective is set to open in Sheffield today. As part of Sheffield City Council’s £470m ‘Heart of the City’ fund, the new food hall will showcase foods from across the world.
The purpose-built food hall is set to become one of the city’s biggest hotspots and will feature 20 food vendors, bars, and a rooftop terrace across the 20,000 sq ft site. Run by the Blend Family, which also runs the popular Sheffield food court Cutlery Works, it has been said that the venture is “Europe’s biggest purpose-built food hall”.
The ground floor will be home to the best Asian food providers in the city, whilst the food hall will be equipped with barbecue and sushi dining spaces as well as augmented reality darts and a children’s play area, outdoor seating, and rooftop terraces.
Some of the food options include West Africa, China, Mexico, and Pakistan. Each food partner’s unique story will be told at the launch via a series of traditional performances and events that will showcase their cultures and traditions.
Opening today (23rd May), it’s designed to be a social and communal destination featuring the best up-and-coming food and drink talent. There will be family events, monthly indie markets, and more, the company has said.

The BBC reports that Matt Bigland, founder and CEO at Blend Family, said: “Sheffield is our home, and bringing Europe’s biggest purpose-built food hall to our city is really exciting.
“Our goal is to bring together a community of talented food entrepreneurs representing the diverse melting pot of Sheffield, providing high-profile opportunities for the food talents in our city and offering guests a trip around the globe here in Sheffield, tasting our amazing city’s diverse DNA.”
