Channel 5’s The Yorkshire Vet returned to our screens last week with a special episode that saw Peter Wright showcase a touching dream close to his heart – creating special places where people can remember the pets who have enriched their lives.
The emotional episode saw the unveiling of the first-ever memorial bench at the former home of Alf Wight, Peter’s old colleague and the writer behind the All Creatures Great and Small books.
The bench was placed at the World of James Herriot Museum in Thirsk, which celebrates the life and work of the much-loved vet and author. And there was a familiar face involved in delivering the special tribute, with farming brothers Rob and Dave Nicholson of Cannon Hall Farm and Channel 5’s Springtime on the Farm helping to deliver the bench.

This weeks episode, it’s back to the usual programme, which features a number of emotional and unusual cases for the Yorkshire vets.
Matt gets called out in the middle of the night to try to save a cow, while Julian deals with a particularly moving case involving a much-loved elderly Boston Terrier. Rohin met a Spanish cat whose owner feared she had swallowed something she shouldn’t have. When he investigated the cat’s throat, he was shocked by what he found.

Meanwhile, Peter and Shona are at one of the country’s most iconic pubs, The Tan Hill Inn. And every year it hosts the Tan Hill Swaledale Sheep Show.
Peter and Shona are at one of the country’s most iconic pubs. The Tan Hill Inn, in the wild and wonderful Swaledale, is Britain’s highest pub – famous for some long, snow-enforced lock ins! And every year it hosts the Tan Hill Swaledale Sheep Show.
