Channel 5 Reveals New Images for Yorkshire Drama By All Creatures Creators

The team behind Channel 5’s successful reboot of All Creatures Great and Small, which has just revealed the series five release date, has revealed new rags to richer, North Yorkshire drama The Hardacres, based on the novels of C L Skelton, which follow the family from Victorian times to the 1950s.

Set in Yorkshire, but filmed in Ireland across Dublin and Wicklow the period drama, The Hardacres, will be made up of six hour-long episodes that follow the lives, loves and fortunes of the working class Hardacre family as they move from a grimy fish dock to a vast country estate in 1890’s Yorkshire.

Currently being shot across Dublin and Wicklow in Ireland, the series is based on CL Skelton’s best-selling ‘The Hardacre Saga’ novels. Channel 5 describes the series as a “sweeping rags to riches story that “

The series is described as “A bold, gutsy ensemble family drama full of heart, The Hardacres places an ordinary family in an extraordinary position and explores the age-old question can money ever buy true happiness?”

It follows the lives of the Hardacre family as they go from a grimy fish dock to a vast country estate after an accident on the dock lands Sam and Mary Hardacre along with their children unemployed and destitute.

The series features Hollyoaks’ Claire Cooper and Liam McMahon, known for Hunger, The Fall, and The Secret, as Mary and Sam Hardacre, a married couple facing hardships after a workplace accident on the docks. The pair along with Mary’s mother and their three children come up with a business plan to escape their humble existence.

There is no official release date as of yet, but, Channel 5’s The Hardacres is said to air before 2024 is out.
