Channel 5 Show ‘Yorkshire’s Poshest Hotel: Grantley Hall’ Airs This Week

Yorkshire’s most luxurious hotel is set to feature in a new Channel 5 show, Yorkshire’s Poshest Hotel: Grantley Hall. The new reality TV series will take viewers behind the curtain at the North Yorkshire hotel.

Channel 5 is giving us a behind-the-scenes look at Grantley Hall, a five-star hotel near Ripon, offering a glimpse into Yorkshire’s top hotel, which has ambitions to become one of the best in the world. Barnsley-born Valeria Sykes bought the run-down 17th-century country house hotel back in 2015 and, with the help of her son Richard, transformed it into a 47-bedroom luxury hotel.

We’ll get a look at how the team creates the magic at the hotel, which is home to Michelin-starred restaurants, a luxury spa, and rooms that range in price from £1,000 to £4,500 a night. From managers to chefs, housekeepers to porters, the series follows the staff as they deliver flawless service.

The first episode in the four-part series is set to air tomorrow night, Thursday, March 26, from 8pm to 9pm on Channel 5. The opening episode focuses on the family behind Grantley Hall. Managing director Richard reveals the ethos of the hotel, while viewers see its tented bistro undergo a major transformation ahead of a lavish launch party attended by restaurant critics and VIPs.

The episode also follows preparations for the arrival of a global superstar from the USA, as experience manager Thierry and his team put the finishing touches on one of the hotel’s superior suites and plan a surprise gift, prepared by senior pastry sous chef Shannon.

Channel 5 says: “When the special guest arrives, they are greeted at the gate by the hotel’s larger-than-life welcome host, Isaac, whose unique style of receiving guests has made him a much-loved member of the team. Another friendly face for guests is doorman Kevin, whose passion for history has led to a side hustle as the hotel’s resident historian.

“As well as offering history tours of the hall for guests, Kevin is also the guardian of the Grantley Hall archives, documenting its fascinating past. The hall has been home to Lords and Ladies, played host to royalty, and was even used as a convalescent home for troops during World War Two.”

If this sounds like a bit of you, you can catch the four-part programme on Thursday, March 26, from 8pm on Channel 5.
