This time of year when the leaves start to fall and the autumn hue takes over the country is one of our favourites. Along with that, all the fall foods appear including those plump pumpkins and this Yorkshire pumpkin patch has been named as one of the best in the country.
Over October pumpkin patches pop up all over the UK, and in recent years farmers have begun to make a spectacle of it by creating PYO Pumpkin events alongside their farm shops with a whole host of things to do including the obvious picking up pumpkins.
Farmer Copley’s in Pontefract topped the list with another Yorkshire favourite Piglet’s Adventure Farm, near York in 3rd place. The data was gathered by analysing the number of posts each patch received.
Farmer Copley’s in Pontefract is said to host the largest pumpkin festival in the UK, home to over 200,000 pumpkins of over 30 different varieties.
Pumpkins are always popular thanks to Halloween and going to pick your own from a farmer’s field is a joyful day out with the family in preparation for decorating or making a tasty pumpkin pie.
Pumpkin patches are great for getting snaps of the kids wandering amongst the pumpkins and that has been proved with the increase of searches for pumpkin patches in the past month which has increased to 560% in the run up to autumn.
Half term is almost amongst us and that is when these spots are at the height of their popularity and why not it’s a fun day out for the family and with farmers searching out fantastic varieties of pumpkin its a feast for the eyes when you visit.
