This York Bar Serves A Japanese-Style Sunday Roast & Smoking Cocktails

It’s common knowledge that Yorkshire folk love a good ol’ Sunday Roast. There is something about roasted veg and a decent slab of meat that gets us going. Well, get excited for this Sunday Roast with a Japanese twist coming to York.

Shori, which specialises in Japanese-style food, has teamed up with Forage to create a new Japanese-style roast dinner that sounds out of this world.

Found on Little Stonegate. Forage specialises in cocktails that are sustainable and foraged plates bar with a focus on seasonal produce. Their cocktails include a couple of nods to Yorkshire with their rhubarb sour, which has rhubarb & ginger, lemon, sugar and egg whites, and also their Yorkshire garden which includes cucumber, mint, elderflower lime infused with apple and gin.

You can enjoy this unique roast on Sundays which includes char sui pork, lemon and yuzu kosho chicken served with will be Japanese curry roasted glazed carrots, seaweed seasoned roast potatoes, miso sweetcorn and roasted tenderstem broccoli. There is also a vegan option of XO mushroom.

The unique offering is a Robata-style roast, which is short for ‘robatayaki’, which translates as ‘fireside cooking’ in Japanese cuisine. The cooking style refers to a method of cooking over hot charcoal on a wide and flat open fireplace, similar to barbecuing.

The roast dinner is just £15 per person or £25 for two people and is served every Sunday from 12pm to 6pm. You can make a booking via the website here.
