Six Yorkshire restaurants have secured places in the latest list of the UK’s top 100 restaurants. It’s that time of year again when the National Restaurant Awards are announced. The awards are voted for by an elite academy of chefs, restaurateurs and food writers, so you can expect a top-quality experience if you choose to visit one of these establishments this year.
Joro, known for blending Nordic and Japanese influences in its inventive tasting menus, ranked highest of the Yorkshire spots in the list in 13th place, up from 43rd in last year’s list. It can be found on the edge of the Peak District and is known for serving up creative dishes such as grilled Scottish scallops, salt-aged Yorkshire beef rump cap, whole teriyaki quail, and Hampshire trout with yuzu kosho beurre blanc.
Next for Yorkshire is Myse in Hovingham, located in the Howardian Hills. The restaurant climbed to 26th place, up from 72nd last year. Run by chef Joshua Overington and his wife Vicky, Myse describes its food as “elevated grandma cooking” – a modest description for dishes that showcase exceptional skill and precision. Diners can watch the team at work in the restaurant’s open kitchen.

The Angel at Hetton, in the Yorkshire Dales, was ranked 47th, rising from 75th place. One of the county’s original gastropubs, it was made famous by the late chef Denis Watkins in the 1980s. Since taking over in 2018, chef-owner Michael Wignall and his wife Johanna have helped restore its reputation. Guests can choose from an à la carte menu or multi-course tasting menus served at lunch and dinner.
The Black Swan at Oldstead was placed 71st, up from 81st last year. Located in a small village around an hour from York, the restaurant is renowned for its connection to the surrounding landscape. Head chef Alice Power creates menus inspired by ingredients grown on the restaurant’s farm and in its two acres of kitchen gardens, as well as produce foraged from the local area. Expect premium ingredients paired with exceptional home-grown produce.

The Star Inn at Harome secured 78th place. Led by chef-patron Andrew Pern, with chef Stephen Smith heading the kitchen, the Michelin-starred restaurant serves modern British cuisine rooted in classical techniques and Yorkshire ingredients. Fish from Whitby, game from the moors and produce from the kitchen garden all feature prominently on the menu.
Rounding out the Yorkshire entries is Bavette in Horsforth, Leeds, which came in at 83rd place. Opened in 2024 by Sandy Jarvis and Clément Cousin, the restaurant has quickly gained a loyal following. Inspired by classic London bistros such as Racine and Terroirs, Bavette serves traditional French bistro dishes in relaxed surroundings. The menu features favourites including Comté cheese croquettes, steak tartare, twice-baked crab soufflé, and the restaurant’s signature bavette steak served with fries and salad.
