Fraisthorpe beach in Yorkshire is a popular flat, sandy beach especially amongst locals located just outside of Bridlington – and is a great alternative to the busy North and South beaches. It’s more commonly enjoyed by families and dog walkers now and is dog-friendly all year round. It’s made up of a large stretch of golden sands, clean water, and fantastic cliff-top cafe bar.
The East Yorkshire beach is hidden down a long country lane, Fraisthorpe beach is the perfect ‘secret’ beach that only locals tend to know about. It has a lovely wide stretch of beach where you can walk for miles in either direction. You can enjoy observing windsurfers whilst you wander along the vast expanse of the sandy beach. Afterwards, head down to the Cow Shed cafe for a lovely brew.

A beach that has grown in popularity over the years and is quickly become pretty popular with the out-of-towners. It’s a great spot for parking your butt for the day and soaking up the sun, especially with dogs also permitted to join in on the fun.
You can enjoy dip in the North Sea while relaxing here in the summer, although, we have to warn, it’s usually pretty freezing. Growing up nearby it’s one of our most visited beaches in Yorkshire. The golden sands are Fraisthorpe’s biggest pull, but we’d recommend getting there early during heatwaves to avoid disappointment.
Located right by the seafront, is The Cow Shed is a popular place to eat when visiting Fraisthorpe, burgers, breakfasts, cakes, coffees, sandwiches, ice creams and more on the menu. The restaurant is beautifully done out and dog-friendly as well so your pooch can come along too.
