The Funniest & Most Ridiculous Reviews of Yorkshire Landmarks

We all get a bee in our bonnet sometimes, but these Tripadvisor reviewers seem to have a hive full. From getting mad at ‘just a bunch of rocks’, to criticizing some of the most stunning architecture our region has to offer – these are the funniest (and sometimes most ridiculous) reviews of famous Yorkshire landmarks. 1. Bolton Abbey

“The abbey is as close as it gets to finding something unique/unusual. But to be honest it’s a church, of which a large part is in ruins. Yes it’s picturesque, no it’s not worth travelling more than a few miles to see.”

“There seemed to be a sense of awe when these steps were talked about but they’re just steps, albeit there are 199 of them but to be honest I’m not sure what the hoo-haa was about.”

3. Brimham Rocks

“Just a bunch of rocks with loads of kids running around it.”

4. York Minster

“We weren’t allowed into this place of worship as we had our dogs with us, which apparently is not allowed because of their insurance policy!! Let’s hope the Archbishop or any visiting clergy ever tries to bring their dog with them if they coming to preach!!”

“If you thought this ‘minster’ was a brilliant piece of architecture, you could not be more wrong. Absolutely disgusted with the blatant disregard for aesthetic appreciation with this joke of a minster. Imagine my shock and disappointment when I travelled so far to see this abomination of a window, which looks like it had been built by a drunk Steve Wonder! Such a lack of regard for symmetry!!! And in god’s house of all places. It’s just embarrassing. Trip. Ruined. What a shame.”

5. Shambles

“Give me the open countryside anyday. No wonder the Vikings eventually left!”

“It’s a street with wonky houses. There is not much more to say. I cannot say I was impressed.”

6. Wharram Percy

“You can see why its deserted”

7. Aysgarth Falls

“TO be honest, once you’ve spent two mins looking at the water there’s nothing here.”

8. Clifford’s Tower

“Mostly just a round mound you can climb but a place of murder, persecution and intolerance”

“The best part of the experience was walking away from the site and spending the entrance fee on a warm cup of coffee with our backs facing the once blood ridden crummy tower”

9. York City Walls

“I went and it was all just walls. Pretty disappointing really.”
