Well, it’s been a while since that fantastic finale of Happy Valley where we finally got the fiery showdown we deserved between Tommy lee Roycee and Sergeant Catherine Caewood.
Lancashire’s acting in the whole series was outstanding – as has come to be expected from the actor who never seems to put in a bad performance.
And, we aren’t the only ones who think so as she accepted an award for Outstanding Achievement at the RTS Programme Awards 2023.
We took a trip to Hebden Bridge in search of filming locations, check it out below:
Her speech was as you’d expect – tinged with humour, much like her character Catherine, whom we’ve come to love. The speech had a couple of poignant points in it as well.
Firstly the recognition she gave her father saying: “One person I’d like to thank, who can’t be here is my dad. I lost my dad 20 years ago.”

She continued: “From being about six years old I’d be allowed in his study and in there was a magical world of storytelling of infinite possibilities that gave me a front-row seat to the rest of my life.
Lancashire mentioned the fact that when she said she wanted to be an actress “he didn’t flinch”, which meant the world to her.
Lancashire also spoke about a moment that touched her, when an old woman accosted her in a shop saying: “I bet you think what you do doesn’t matter”
The woman continued: “tomorrow is Christmas day and I will be on my own, but I will have the television all day and that will be my company and I thank you.”
