The Harrogate Christmas Fayre is set to return in 2024 for its fourth consecutive year, following the success of last year’s event, which significantly boosted local businesses. After receiving positive feedback from both visitors and town centre retailers, the fayre will once again be extended across three weekends, running from Friday, November 29th to Sunday, December 15th.
The annual festive celebration in the scenic North Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate has become a key event in the region’s calendar since it began in 2021. One of the standout features returning in 2024 is the Candy Cane Express road train, which will transport visitors on scenic town tours from Fridays to Sundays during the fayre.
Another major attraction is the impressive 32-metre Ferris wheel, offering breathtaking views of Harrogate and the surrounding countryside. Visitors can enjoy the stunning Christmas lights and decorations from the top of the wheel, both during the day and evening, adding to the magical atmosphere of the event.

Organised by Market Place and supported by North Yorkshire Council, the Harrogate Christmas Fayre is designed to draw residents and visitors from across the country. In response to the growing demand, the event was extended to 17 days in 2023, following calls from local businesses for more foot traffic during the holiday season. This expansion was well-received, with shops, restaurants, bars, and hotels reporting a significant increase in customers during the event.
With up to 50 stalls, the fayre will feature a wide array of independent traders from Yorkshire, the wider UK, and even Europe, offering unique Christmas gifts, decorations, and seasonal food and drinks. In addition, the Little Bird Made artisan market will return to the historic Valley Gardens, providing even more opportunities to shop for handmade jewellery, crafts, and gifts from local vendors over the weekends.

Councillor Carl Les, leader of North Yorkshire Council, emphasized the importance of the fayre, stating that it plays a significant role in supporting the town’s tourism industry. Harrogate BID manager, Mathew Chapman, echoed this sentiment, highlighting how the event helps drive foot traffic and support local businesses, making Harrogate a key festive destination for shoppers and holidaymakers alike.
