A huge music star has been spotted at the recently opened country music bar in York city centre. The bar has fast become a popular spot for people looking for a good time, and we couldn’t be more jealous that we missed out on this one.
Housed in what was formerly known as The Parish bar, Ruby Rae’s has made the 11th-century church its home for its second site, offering up a taste of country with a side of line dancing. Yee-ha!
And Danny from McFly has been on the hype as he headed to the bar recently, enjoying a few pints of Guinness while soaking up the country vibes.
The owners, Dean Saunders and Dan Cooke, said Danny was “so nice and polite, and very down to earth”. Dean continued, saying the McFly frontman and guitarist had a great night and that he was a huge country music fan himself. He was also a fan of Ruby Rae’s and knew that the original venue was in Newcastle, much to the owners’ delight.
So slap on your cowboy boots and some tight Levi’s jeans, and we’ll see you there. The flagship bar in Newcastle opened over a year ago to huge success. The new Micklegate venue is hoping to replicate its success.
If you’re thinking of heading to Ruby Rae’s, then expect an ‘authentic Nashville-inspired experience’, featuring country music and line dancing, along with cowboy hats, a fitting drinks menu and country music vibes. To celebrate the opening, you can expect country music performances and more.
The boys behind the venture have been searching for the perfect venue and happened upon a piece of York history. I remember bouncing around the venue at university when it was then known as The Parish, so it will be nice to see new life breathed into the stunning venue.
