Fan favourite comedy ITV’s Benidorm could be back for a new series after being cancelled six years ago. A cryptic hint from actress Sherrie Hewson has sent fans into a frenzy about it’s potential return. The series had a devoted following and was one of the most popular shows at the time.
The show follows life of British tourists on the Solana Resort where Sherrie Hawson played manager Joyce Temple-Savage. It ran for ten series and featured huge comedy names such as Steve Pemberton, Happy Valley’s Siobhan Finneran and more.
After responding to a fans comment on social media Sherrie has fans excited. One fan wrote: “Will there be another series of Benidorm, Joyce?” To which Sherrie replied “Never say never”. And, with the likes of Gavin & Stacey announcing a new Christmas special could Benidorm be set to make a comeback sometime soon?

One user wrote: “If benidorm is coming back can i come on it as a drag queen?” And another wrote: ““Ooo exciting. I know Derren is writing again!!!!. What a joy a s11 would be.”
Hull writer, Derren Litten, who created the series, hinted at its return to tele and theatre writing a few months ago. He released a statement a few months ago saying: “It’s been a difficult decision but I’ve decided to return back to writing for both television and theatre.”
Litten has written the comedy for BBC One’s Scarborough, which ran for one series. But, which stars would come back for a new series? We think the climate is ready for a bit of light relief that shows like Benidorm offer up – so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
