This Yorkshire City Has Been Named Most Friendly In The UK

York is known as Yorkshire’s capital – and is one of the country’s most beautiful cities. It’s home to the more miles of intact wall than any other city in England. It also has the grand minster. It’s quite the wholesome place, so it’s no surprise that it’s bee named as the friendliest and most relaxed place in the UK.

Betway’s survey named the city the UK’s most friendliest. It looked at a range of factors such as life satisfaction scores, safety, staff friendliness, quality of green spaces and parks, and the number of five-star rated restaurants

The historic city is home to 68 restaurants with a five-star rating online, with some of the most pleasant and cheerful hospitality staff in the country, according to Betway. Having lived in York in the past we’d have to agree that it is definitely a friendly a pleasant place to visit with plenty of spots to eat and drink as well as its cobbled streets to explore.

The city has long been a popular tourist destination with thousands flocking to the city all year round. Enjoying its medieval streets – especially the Shambles, which some say inspired Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley – and Gothic cathedrals is a must.

A few spots we’d say are a must-visit when heading to York are Clifford’s Tower – especially in spring when the daffodils are in bloom, also York Minster and the Stonegate area for shopping and taking pictures. With a visit to the famous Betty’s tearooms for a break from exploring.

On a night, the city comes alive with plenty of venues offering live music to enjoy, it has an array of fabulous restaurants where you can enjoy a bite to eat before heading to one of its fabulous bars for a few cocktails. What more could you want from a weekend away?

It’s also home to some fantastic museums, theatres and galleries where you can explore to your hearts content. The city boasts over 350 pubs, so you’ll be able to make a new friend or two whilst you sink a few local ales after you’ve finished doing all of the touristy things to do.
