Jeremy Clarkson Was Told By Farmer That Planning Permission Row Make For Great TV

Clarkson’s Farm announced its release date for the third series of the hit Prime Video series. One of the biggest storyline of the last series was most definitely his battle with the council for planning permission – and it seems that the presenter was tipped off by a fellow farmer that it would make for great tele.

The 63-year-old presenter, who runs the popular Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds, has created a show that helps highlight major issues within the farming world partnering it perfectly with his iconic no nonsense sense of humour.

Clarkson has now had numerous battles with the council over planning permission of the past series as he tries to expand his business operations o his land. And in his latest column for The Sun he explained how he got a tip that a planning dispute could be a great way to create some drama in the second series.

The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire presenter wrote in his article: “After the first series of Clarkson’s Farm aired, I went for lunch with a farmer friend who said: ‘If you want a storyline for the next series, try getting planning permission for something’.

“I was a bit puzzled and asked what he meant by ‘something’. ‘Anything,’ he replied. ‘It doesn’t matter. Because I guarantee you’ll be turned down’.”

Clarkson applied to turn a lambing shed into a steak restaurant – and like the farmer friend had said – he was turned down.

He continued: “It was like I’d asked for permission to build Studio 54. As my farming friend had predicted, the council went berserk and did everything in its power to stop me.”

We can only imagine there is more of this to come in the next series of the hit Prime Video show, which announced its next series will air in May 2024, with the fourth series already being commissioned.
